Peter Grossman ’84—who graduated from Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences with a degree in history—likes to show his support for Northwestern in diverse and meaningful ways, from serving on the Class of 1984’s 25th Reunion committee to hosting a student as part of Northwestern’s NEXT Externship Program. Grossman is a longtime Northwestern supporter and an active member of the NU Loyal Society, which recognizes donors who have given to Northwestern for at least three consecutive years. He also contributes to Northwestern’s Career Development Fund, which enables students to attend educational conferences and events and travel to internship interviews both domestically and internationally. In addition, Grossman recently joined the Los Angeles Regional Campaign Committee as a major gift volunteer.

Grossman is a plastic surgeon who specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery as well as the care of burn-injured patients; he owns Grossman Surgi-Center and is medical director of Grossman Burn Center at West Hills Hospital in Los Angeles. Grossman also is president of the Los Angeles Society of Plastic Surgeons. He and his wife, Rebecca, have two children: Alexis and Nicholas.

Campaign Insider: Tell us about your new volunteer role on the Los Angeles Regional Campaign Committee.

Peter Grossman: I believe my role is really to remind my fellow alumni of what a great gift we received in the education we obtained from Northwestern and how important it is to continue Northwestern’s legacy for the generations that follow us. Quite honestly, given the quality of character of our alumni, that isn’t a hard job at all.

CI: Why do you choose to get involved in the “We Will” Campaign?

PG: So many of us take so much pride in having attended Northwestern, a time when we began to flourish as men and women. The “We Will” Campaign allows us to stay connected to the University and, at the same time, give the University and its current students an incredibly bright future.

CI: How important are regional events, such as the recent one in Los Angeles, to the success of the Campaign?

PG: It is person by person, city by city, and region by region that we provide support for Northwestern. The regional events are really one of the cornerstones of the University’s growth and success.
